Preface
Pollution in our environment is one of the biggest threats to mankind today. Past and present operations and practices have resulted in widespread contamination of our planet. Everything we interact with today has at least one chemical in it, meaning exposure is almost constant. The air we breath, the water we drink, the food we eat, the soil we garden with and even the cloths we wear contain chemicals either purposely placed within them or have been deposited there from external sources. Both humans and organisms in the environment are at risk because of this. Pollution can lead to cancers, mutations, birth defects, infertility and a variety of different diseases. With new chemicals be synthesized and put into our products all the time and not being tested for long-term effects, the potential risk of problems down the road is greater than ever.
